Chile: feel small by the giant mano del desierto in the Atacama desert


Have you heard of the mano del desierto? it’s a giant hand raising from the ground and sculpted in the middle of the Atacama desert, by the Chilean sculptor Mario Irarrázabal, that he made in the beginning of the 1980’s. It looks like it is trying to reach the stars… but it is meant to represent human vulnerability and helplessness.

You feel very small when you stand by an 11 meter high giant hand in the middle of the desert…..
