Bolivia: search for Viscachas in the desert

Have you heard of viscachas? They actually look like rabbits, that’s what I thought they were at first, but they’re not! They’re rodents, and you can find them in South America. They do live in high altitude, and the Bolivian desert is perfect for that! So when driving around, keep your eyes open to find them, and look around rocks, they might just be hiding there somewhere.  Their tail is curled when they are resting, and fully extended when they are moving.
They’re cute! I thought ?

A few pictures of viscachas in their natural habitat in the Bolivian desert:

  1. Indeed I saw some in piles of rocks, not far away a fox was hanging around. I also saw them in the ruins of Machu Picchu.
