It was my first day in Mexico. My backpack didn’t make it and had stayed in Amsterdam. It was a long journey with a transit in the US. I arrived late at night in Mexico City and I was lucky at the hostel to meet wonderful people who offered me beers, shampoo, and clean clothes. It wasn’t a myth: pieces of luggage do get lost at some point. After years of travels, it was the first time my dear backpack didn’t seem to want to travel with me.
On my first day in Mexico, I spent the day in the ancient city of Teotihuacan, about 50+ km from the DF (Mexico City). Wow. From the pyramid of the Sun to the one of the Moon, it is the largest and most important archeological site in Mexico, and another UNESCO world heritage site. It is said to be the place where the gods were created.
“They were not Mayans nor Aztecs, they were Teotihuacans”
